How Name Verification Works

Individuals

  1. Last name is required

    • If our records show a last name (e.g. Smith), include the last name exactly as recorded.

  2. Include at least one given name

    • If first or middle names are on file (e.g. John), include at least one first name or middle name in full (no abbreviations).

Example

  • Recorded: John Doe Smith

  • Valid: John Smith, Doe Smith (the last name “Smith” + at least one full given name)

  • Invalid: John Doe (last name “Smith” is missing)

Joint Accounts

  1. Only one name needs to match

    • For joint accounts with two or more holders, you only need to match one holder’s name exactly.

  2. Follow the above rules for individuals

    • The chosen holder’s name must include the correct last name and at least one given name in full.

Example

  • Recorded: John Doe Smith, Jane Roe, and Paul Allen

  • Valid

    • John Smith

    • Jane Roe

    • Paul Allen

  • Invalid: John Doe (missing “Smith”)

Organisations

  1. Use the full registered name

    • Enter the full business name exactly as it appears on the account.

Example

  • Recorded: Cuspy Pty Ltd

  • Valid: CUSPY, cuspy Pty, CUSPY Pty Ltd

  • Invalid: Cuspy Pty Limited
